6th through 8th Grade Physical Education

What days do we have PE?  6th, 7th, and 8th grade have PE on Monday and Thursday in the afternoon.

What kind of shoes do we need? Shoes need to be athletic type shoes that either tie with laces or can be tightened with Velcro straps.  The type of shoe that just has elastic criss-crossed up the shoe with no method of tightening the shoe around the ankle are not permitted.  Skateboard shoes that have very loose shoestrings that are tucked behind the tongue of the shoe are also not permitted unless the shoe is tied tightly like a regular gym shoe.

Overview of the year

Middle school classes still need to work on developing the skills that will make sports and games enjoyable and beneficial for the students. Lead-up activities, modified games and sports, and sports education should fill the majority of the class time. Skill development is more important than the actual playing of the game. Students who have the skills will be able to utilize them when the opportunities occur. Without the skills, participants will frequently lose both the interest in and the benefit of sports and games. Fitness activities and cooperative activities comprise the remainder of the physical education program. Some examples of 6th through 8th grade objectives are:
